Vice President Kamala Harris announced on November 18 that San Francisco will be the host city for the 2023 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders Meeting the week of November 12, 2023 [link to release]. The international summit is where heads of state and business leaders from APEC’s 21 member economies gather annually to facilitate trade and investment in the APEC region.
The business leaders comprise the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC), which advises APEC leaders on issues affecting the continued growth of the Asia-Pacific economy. Our Chairman and CEO Dominic Ng was selected by President Biden to be the Chair of ABAC for 2023. Dominic also served as Co-Chair of the 2022 APEC summit that concluded over the weekend in Thailand.
In recognition of the naming of San Francisco as the host city, Dominic shared:
"I'm thrilled that San Francisco was selected to host APEC next November. As one of the most significant cultural, commercial, and financial hubs in the United States, San Francisco is a great choice for a gathering of economic leaders from throughout the Asia-Pacific region. As ABAC Chair, I look forward to working closely with the Biden Administration, the State of California, and the City of San Francisco on a successful APEC in 2023."
