LACMA has undergone a decades-long transformation to become the center of art and culture. As the largest art museum in the western U.S., with a collection of nearly 155,000 objects that illuminate 6,000 years of artistic expression across the globe, LACMA is at the forefront of exhibiting and interpreting works of art from unexpected viewpoints informed by the region’s rich cultural heritage and communities that call it home.
East West Bank has played a leading role in LACMA’s evolution, championing efforts to create pioneering initiatives, engage new audiences, and share world-class contemporary art. The opening of the David Geffen Galleries, the new home for the museum’s permanent collection, will bring more art for all of Los Angeles.
A highlight of LACMA’s transformation is the new East West Bank Commons, an expansive outdoor gathering and event space rooted in the museum’s commitment to openness and accessibility. The East West Bank Commons will be a gathering spot for all campus visitors, offering programming for children and families, conversations with leaders in the art world, and exhibition-related programs, as well as signature events that bring together the community.
LACMA’s Educator-Led Gallery Tours welcome thousands of students every year to see, experience and marvel at their collections. Through East West Bank’s partnership, LACMA expanded the program to serve 50% more students annually, adding more educators, inviting more schools, and connecting young minds with different cultures and communities through art.
